Common help topics

What's the difference between my bank balance and Available to Spend?

Your balance is what's already happened — paid income minus paid bills. Available to Spend adjusts that for what you still owe this cycle, paid or not, so it answers what's actually safe to spend right now.

How do planning cycles work?

The app plans around weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, monthly or custom cycles, following your real pay schedule rather than the calendar month.

Balance Check says a figure doesn't match — what do I do?

Open Balance Check and look at the unpaid or expected items it highlights. If one of them has actually been paid or received, confirm it there rather than creating a manual adjustment.

I edited a recurring bill — what changed?

You choose whether the edit should also apply to the item already generated for your current cycle. Nothing changes automatically or silently either way.

How do reminders work?

Reminders for overdue items, items due today, and amounts needing confirmation are scheduled locally on your device. They're optional and can be turned off entirely.

Does Sort All Money back up my data?

Optionally, yes — to your own private iCloud account. Restoring on a new device signed into the same iCloud account should restore your planning data.

Troubleshooting

If Available to Spend looks wrong, check Balance Check for any unpaid or unconfirmed items first — that's usually the cause of an unexpected figure, rather than a fault.

If iCloud backup isn't restoring on a new device, confirm you're signed into the same iCloud account and that iCloud Drive is enabled for the app under iOS Settings.

SAM Plus & subscriptions

SAM Plus is managed through Apple's standard subscription system. You can view, change or cancel it at any time via Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

FinanceKit & Apple Wallet

Automatic matching of Apple Wallet transactions is planned but not yet available, pending Apple's entitlement approval. It isn't required for any of the app's core planning functionality.
